Daniel Morcombe Foundation Supports Ending “Domestic Discipline” Defence in Queensland

The Daniel Morcombe Foundation proudly supports the removal of the outdated “domestic discipline” defence from Queensland’s criminal code, joining more than 30 respected organisations in a joint submission to the Queensland Law Reform Commission.

At the heart of everything we do is our commitment to educating children, families, and the wider community about violence prevention. The continued existence of a legal defence that permits physical punishment risks normalising violence against children and is out of step with modern child protection practices. We urge the Queensland Government to lead this important reform and invest in evidence-based education and support for families.

Together, we can build a community where every child feels safe, supported, and free from harm.
