Statement of Support: System Responses to Child Sexual Abuse – Progress Report

Monday 7 April 2025

The Daniel Morcombe Foundation acknowledges the release of the first progress report for the Child Death Review Board’s review into Queensland’s system responses to child sexual abuse, led by the Queensland Family and Child Commission (QFCC).

We commend the QFCC for taking a proactive and survivor-informed approach to this critical work. The review is a vital step in understanding and improving system responses to child sexual abuse in Queensland.

Key actions to date include:

  • Calling for submissions from those directly impacted by the behaviour of the offender mentioned in the review’s terms of reference
  • Developing a timeline of events
  • Requesting information from government and community agencies
  • Seeking contributions from prevention organisations and national experts
  • Commissioning research into best-practice responses and prevention
  • Engaging with other states and territories to gather insights on successful practices across Australia

We strongly support the review’s commitment to centring the voices of victim-survivors and those directly impacted. We encourage anyone impacted who is ready to share their story to consider making a submission.

The Foundation remains dedicated to working alongside government, community and families to build a safer future for all children.

You can read the full progress report and learn more about the submissions process on the QFCC website:
