20 Year Anniversary
Home »20 Years of Keeping Kids Safe

May 6, 2025 is 20 years since the Daniel Morcombe Foundation was founded.
For twenty years we have been committed to building a future where children are safe from harm and abuse and have the opportunity to thrive.
Established in 2005, the Foundation began as a mission to find Daniel. Today, it is a powerful force for educating children, supporting young victims of crime, and helping families of missing persons.
As we mark this 20-year milestone, we invite you to reflect with us on how far we’ve come—and to look ahead with hope. This anniversary is not only a time to remember Daniel but also a celebration of the many lives that have been protected and empowered through the Foundation’s work. Together, we can continue to create lasting change for generations to come.

About The
Daniel Morcombe Foundation
The Daniel Morcombe Foundation was established in 2005 by Bruce and Denise Morcombe following the tragic abduction and murder of their 13-year-old son, Daniel.
Determined to make a difference, Bruce and Denise turned their personal heartbreak into a powerful movement to protect children and prevent harm in communities across Australia. The Foundation is driven by a vision of a world where children and young people are safe, supported, and equipped with the tools to navigate their world confidently and securely.
Over the past 20 years, the Foundation has become one of Australia’s leading child safety organisations. From grassroots advocacy to national campaigns, we have reached millions of children, families, schools, and communities through awareness events like Day for Daniel, our educational programs, and direct support services for young victims of crime. Our continued work in prevention education has helped shift the national conversation around child safety and built a legacy of positive impact that continues to grow.
The Daniel Morcombe Foundation provides free, evidence-based resources designed to teach personal safety to children and young people. These resources are used by educators, parents, and carers to help children learn to recognise unsafe situations, respond confidently, and report to trusted adults. Our age-appropriate tools cover key topics including online safety, respectful relationships, and help-seeking behaviours. Everything we provide is freely available through our website, helping to break down barriers and ensure all children can access vital safety education.
At the heart of everything we do is a simple but powerful mission: Keeping Kids Safe.
Through collaboration with communities, schools, governments, and organisations across the country, we continue to raise awareness, deliver education, and provide support. The Daniel Morcombe Foundation is a lasting legacy to Daniel’s life, driven by hope, courage, and a deep commitment to protecting the next generation.
