The Morcombes embark on 7,200km Time To Talk Road Trip for child safety

Child safety ambassadors Bruce and Denise Morcombe OAM are getting ready for their 20-day, 7,200km Time to Talk Road Trip to educate children across Australia.

Throughout June and July, Bruce and Denise will educate more than 1600 students at regional and rural schools in Queensland, New South Wales and South Australia.

It comes at an important time with the Daniel Morcombe Foundation celebrating its 20th year since its launch in Palmwoods in May, 2005,
Denise Morcombe said, “it is really important to us that all children are educated about their personal safety”.

“Our aim is to educate them all on how to recognise unsafe situations, how to react in these situations and very importantly to encourage them to report these to their safety team.

Beginning on Monday, June 16, the Time To Talk Road Trip is about reducing instances of child sexual abuse, and building momentum in support of this year’s 20th Day for Daniel.

Bruce Morcombe said, “together we can reduce child sexual abuse, one talk at a time”.

“This is a tremendous honour. We are proud to be Daniel’s parents and quite moved that 20 years after his abduction, those tragic events are not forgotten and his important legacy continues to grow.”

The tour includes educational presentations at nine schools and begins in Central Queensland with visits to Gladstone West Primary School and St Joseph’s Park Avenue Catholic School in Rockhampton.
Established in 2005, the Foundation creates free educational resources to educate children about personal safety and to help stop child sexual abuse.

These resources give children the tools necessary to keep themselves safe in unsafe situations.

Day for Daniel is Australia’s largest child safety education and awareness day. Now in its 20th year, the Foundation aims to have 8000 schools and early learning centres and hundreds of businesses registered.

Parents, carers, educators can visit the Daniel Morcombe Foundation website for resources and information.
